Tell me and I will forget.

Show me and I will remember.

Involve me and I will understand.

InFlight Arts-in-Education, a program of the Phoenix Theatre Ensemble, has been collaborating with Pre-K through High School Public Schools in the East Village of NYC for the past 12 years to bring learning adventures to students through theatre arts. Through process-based, interactive theatre we explore the stories of our world and bring literature to life in the classroom.

Several years ago we added an Acting Studio Theatre Program for the students at M450-East Side Community High School, an NYC Title 1 public school, grades 6-12. Students receive a professional level theater program which culminates in a full performance. We have embarked on a journey in the theatre arts which includes an exploration of theatre, literature, script analysis and ensemble creation. As the students develop as actors they must employ critical thinking, problem solving, conflict resolution, creativity, imagination and commitment. The program has continued to expand in wonderful ways as we offer a full year program to the senior students, professional development days with leaders from all sectors of the industry and more. We have been able to move from classrooms with desks to a dedicated space with a platform and acoustic curtains. We are hoping to add sound and light capability, allowing our students to learn design elements as well as enhance their culminating performances.
